Meet Co Founder Stefanie Wigfall

Founder Stefanie Wigfall grew up in Southern California where she fell in love with Volleyball at a young age. She spent her prep years playing varsity and club volleyball and developed a fascination in the strategy and game planning aspects of the sport.

After graduating Valedictorian of her high school class, Stefanie attended UCLA.  It was there, at 19 years old that she began her coaching career across the street from UCLA at the volleyball powerhouse Marymount High School. She graduated from UCLA in 2005 and obtained a Masters in Clinical Psychology in 2010.

After college, Stefanie’s coaching career took off. She spent the next 18 years solidifying her reputation as one of the best coaches in the nation. In 2003 and 2004, she won her first national silver medals, and in 2013 and 2014 she earned two more Open division Silver Medals at Junior Nationals all while coaching and directing her North Division of Sunshine Volleyball Club. In 2018, Stefanie won the illusive Gold medal at Nationals with her Sunshine 14 and Under team.

Since 2013, Stefanie has been the Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California. Stefanie is credited for bringing the Trailblazer volleyball program to national attention. During her first 6 years at Sierra Canyon, she has won 5 league championships, back to back CIF Southern Section Championships and Sierra Canyon Volleyball’s first CIF California Division 2 State Championship.

Stefanie has received many awards and recognition for her coaching success. She was named National 14s Coach of the year in 2017 by the AVCA, and was named Cal-Hi Coach of the Year the same year.  She was twice named Daily News Coach of the year, and twice was named CIF -SS Coach of the year (Div 2 and 3)  Sierra Canyon is now a division 1 volleyball program and competing in the OPEN division playoffs this last year.

Through all of her winning and successes, Stefanie’s true passion is developing the youth and empowerment of young women both on and off the court. Stefanie sees the bigger picture, that volleyball and sports can be used as a vehicle through a girl’s developing years to instill the importance of commitment, character, work ethic and handling adversity.  She understands that after volleyball, these young girls will be career women, CEOS, mothers and wives. She believes that through volleyball girls can unlock the unlimited potential which lives inside each of them.

Stefanie and Robe combined forces and created CITY Volleyball club in 2019. Within one season, CITY’s 14’s won a National title at the Las Vegas Classic in the 15 year old division. Stefanie and Robe have a vision to create one of the most unique female sports academy in the country that not only focuses on the game but building strong, empowered young woman who live by the 5 C’s which are Confidence, Commitment, Character, Compassion and Community.

Stefanie resides in Granada Hills, CA with her fiance Darrin Phillips, who is her partner in coaching and father to their young son, Carter.  In her off time, she enjoys nature and looking for the best restaurants in every city she visits. She is an avid baker and lover of all things sports. When she is not coaching, she is also a teacher at Sierra Canyon school and Sports Psychologist and Children’s Therapist.  She loves working with kids, and watching them grow and succeed!
